ISO1 involvement of the internal cross-border cooperation (cbc) programmes
Interreg specific objective 1 (ISO1) deals with better cooperation governance. It is a specific objective designed to tackle the everyday difficulties in border regions, low trust in institutions and foster trust between the cross-border communities of all kinds.
In the 2021-2027 programming period 44 out of 48 cross-border cooperation programmes use ISO1, allocating between 3% and 20% of their total budget to it.
Whilst programmes are free to select as many measures as necessary from the 6 existing within ISO1, most have opted for 1 or 2 measures.
Among the most used measures are those addressing issues related to legal and administrative cooperation (measure 6.2) and people-to-people actions for increased trust (measure 6.3).
These measures specifically target the areas that InterregGov seeks to strengthen through its activities.
